Has the Iran war entered your kitchen?
The cylinder in your kitchen got costlier by Rs 60. Delhi now pays ₹913; Mumbai ₹912.50, Bengaluru ₹915.
Delivery wait times for cylinders have stretched from 48 hours to as long as 8 days in several cities.
You can only book your next refill 25 days after your last delivery.
Why is this happening?
- •Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz — through which 85–90% of India’s LPG imports flow — impacting supply.
- •India has invoked the Essential Commodities Act, directing all refineries to maximise propane and butane production exclusively for domestic LPG use.
- •There is now a mandatory 25-day gap for booking LPG cylinders — up from 21 days — to prevent hoarding and black-marketing.
