How can Qatar’s halt on LNG play out for you?
News illustration

Qatar has halted liquefied natural gas (LNG) production after attacks, disrupting exports.

Qatar won't be ‌able to return to normal production and export levels for at least a month, as per reports.

India relies on Qatar for about 40% of its LNG imports. As per reports, India has 2-3 weeks of LNG supply.

What's in it for you?

  • Your electricity bills may go up due to reduced LNG inflows and higher spot prices.
  • Pollution could get worse. India’s power sector will have to rely more on coal, among the dirtiest fossil fuels.
  • Sectors such as petroleum which use gas for production will also have to shift more towards unclean energy.
